April Fool's Challenge

Today was the day of the Just A Short Run and so I woke up at 6am and drove to North Park. I parked, shuttled over to the packet pickup. Picked up my packet and Ryan's and then walked back to my car - covering just over .5 miles. For the past few days I had felt rather bad with a migraine, and that was my sign to definitely not even do the 5K. So it was an accomplishment to (A) wake up and (B) walk tin the very cold back to my car.

Later in the morning I felt much better and joined Ryan, Bridgette, Conor, Rory, and Devin for an April Fool's Challenge - 4 mile run and obstacle course. I designated myself the photographer and followed them through some of the course. I ran back and forth across a soccer field, to another soccer field, then after Ryan, Conor, and Devin passed I tracked back back so I could get pics of Bridgette and Rory, and then I followed them around the course. After I got home I mapped out all the criss-crossing I did and I had run 1.5 miles myself! I also got a tinge of sunburn on my face -- it was a nice sunny day in the low 40s.

Snow is me

Evening Walk

I did the daily readings and listened to the audio reflection and then I played Solitaire. Total Workout: 2.0 miles in 29:17 328cals 1% 4.1mph.

This coming Saturday is Just a Short Run 2013 and I am not trained up for it. I was going to just go and get my packet and go home. But then I discovered there is also a 5K! So I changed my registration from the Half Marathon over to the 5K. I'll take it nice and slow and be able to do a nice outdoor 5K -- hopefully by the weekend it will be nice and no longer snowing.

Low on Energy

A low energy day I went to mass, spent time with my family, then napped for an hour, then was lazy for an hour and then I finally got myself to walk 1.5 miles. I felt super hungry so I looked forward to the yummy pork Ryan was cooking.

I read a few day's worth of daily readings and reflections - as I failed to do that since Friday (oops!). Total Workout: 1.5 miles in 21:57?cals 4.1mph 1%.

All Happiness

Enjoyed lunch with my sisters and a brother at Panera for 2 hours and then came home and napped. Then I made double-chocolate chip cookies (after being encouraged to do so by my siblings) while listening to the radio program Rhythm Sweet & Hot and then I walked 1.0 miles in 14:42 164cals 1% 4.1mph. It was 7:20pm and the sun was still in the sky shining through into the treadmill room as I walked and it made me happy as it was there then faded.

You call this Spring?

Well, today was a balmy 18 degrees when I went to work in the morning. Luckily Ryan drove me so I didn't have to stand in the cold. In the evening it was in the low 20s so waiting for the bus was unpleasant but luckily I only had to wait about 2 minutes.

The back room with the treadmill was pretty chilly, so I wore my sweatshirt for a mile. Then I grabbed some water, ditched the hoodie, and walked at 4.1 instead of 4.0 for half a mile. I enjoyed my daily readings and reflection then I listened to Marketplace and played Solitaire.

When I got done I went back into the living room and got to see it snowing. I am waiting for real Spring to start!

Evening Walk

I walked 2.0 miles in 29:47 328cals 1% doing 4.0 for the first mile and 4.1 for the second since it felt good. I read my Lenten daily readings, felt connected to St. Joseph, examined my conscience since I know I should go to confession during Lent, and then played Solitaire while listening to Disney songs.  It didn't seem like an eclectic mix of things, but typing it all out I see that it was.

Move and Groove

I walked 1.0 miles while reading the daily readings and reflection. I then jogged at 5.0 for a lap - felt warmed-up and so bumped up to 5.5 for a lap then to 6.0 for 2.5 laps. Then I cooled down running at 5.5 for a while, a little at 5.0 and a brief 4.2 walk. Total Workout: 2.5 in 30:55 401cals 1%

A few weeks of not running and barely walking is incredibly detrimental to my ability to run. I'm pretty sure I've realized this before, but it takes another experience to realize "Woah, how quickly I can lose my fitness!" I need to stay moving and grooving and keep challenging myself so I stay fit and fine.

After walking I meant to have a productive evening but instead I watched The Biggest Loser season finale and watched Danni win it by 1 pound.

Spring Ahead

We sprung ahead one hour today and with that springing came Spring! It was sunny and 69 degrees today (and maybe even warmer!). I convinced Ryan to go on a walk with me, even though he had run 11.0 miles yesterday. I wore capri running pants and a jacket, and boy was I toasty!

There were a few piles of snow still hanging on and so I grabbed some and made a snowball and walked with it for the last .3 miles home. It melted and dripped the whole time and made me want a blueberry slushie.

Library Walk

Today I completed a 2012 New Year's Resolution (yes, 2012, not 2013): I got a library card!

I walked the half mile+ to the library, got my new card, paid an old fine, and checked out some books. I put them in my backpack and I walked home.
